Barry loses 1-0 in first round
Clinton sophomore Ethan Barry couldn't generate enough offense to win a battle of ranked wrestlers in first round action at the Iowa High School state wrestling tournament.
Barry, ranked fifth, fell 1-0 to No. 4. Brayden Wolf of Waverly-Shell Rock. Wolf garned the lone point of the match by escaping with a little more than a minute remaining in the third period.
In the down position in the second period, Barry's attempts at reversal or escape were nullified by Wolf, leading to the score being knotted at zero heading into the third.
He will now be in the consolation bracket with an upcoming match against Noah Stober.
