After a 9-8 13-inning loss to Wisconsin on Saturday, the LumberKings rebounded with a 9-4 win over the Timber Rattlers on Sunday.
With the weekend split, Clinton (30-19) holds a four-game lead in the Western Division over Burlington, Beloit and Kane County.
Clinton got on the board quickly Sunday. Jamal Austin hit a one-out single in the top of the first inning.
Then Dan Paolini drew a walk. Ramon Morla hit a three-run home run over the left-field fence to give the LumberKings a 3-0 lead.
Clinton tacked on another run in the top of the second, but Wisconsin scored two runs of its own that inning to cut the LumberKings’ lead to 4-2.
Clinton led 5-2 after three innings and put the game away with a four-run sixth inning.
David Villasuso singled to lead off the inning. Christopher Taylor was hit by a pitch and lifted for a pinch runner, then Austin singled to load the bases.
Paolini hit an RBI infield single and then a runner scored on a double play, putting Austin at third base with two outs.
Jabari Blash followed that up with a two-run home run over the left-field fence to put Clinton ahead 9-2.
On Saturday, with two outs in the bottom of the 13th, Nick Ramirez singled home the winning run for Wisconsin.
Clinton scored three runs in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Austin and a two-run double by Paolini to force the game into extra innings.
Patrick Brady hit his first home run in the fourth inning for the LumberKings, cutting into a 4-0 deficit.
