BELLEVUE — The usual suspects crossed the finish line first.

Camanche's Codie Adams and Prince of Peace's Audrey Griffin each won their respective races at the Comet Invitational on Monday. Adams led the Indians to a team victory in the boys event, and Griffin paced the Irish girls to a second-place finish behind Bellevue Marquette.

Bellevue hosted the event, while Preston, Calamus-Wheatland, Maquoketa and Andrew also participated.

In the girls race, Preston finished third, Maquoketa placed fourth and Bellevue rounded out the top five. Andrew, Cal-Wheat and Camanche ran with incomplete lineups.

Marquette had five runners finish in the top 10: Anna Lampe (10th), Andrea Franks (seventh), Paige Dougherty (sixth), Katherine Herrig (third) and Sarah Lampe (second).

Prince of Peace had two runners in the top 10. Chrissy Kokjohn finished eighth at 17 minutes, 23 seconds, and Griffin won the 4,000-meter race at 15:58.

Also for Prince of Peace, Anna Tackshaw placed 17th, Jill Crigger finished 23rd and Taylor Determan turned in a 25th-place finish.

“Chrissy and Anna has their best runs ever,” Prince of Peace coach Dave Lawrence said. “Audrey ran her typical good race, and the other girls are running better.”

In the boys race, Marquette finished second, Maquoketa placed third, Prince of Peace finished fourth, while Preston and Cal-Wheat finished in a tie for fifth. Bellevue and Andrew ran incomplete.

Camanche had three runners in the top 10: Kevin Carrington (10th), Tony Stoll (sixth) and Adams.

Prince of Peace, Marquette and Maquoketa each had two runners in the top 10.

Anthony Sinn led the Irish with a fourth-place finish in a personal-best 18:32. Eric Sikkema placed eighth at 18:50.

“Anthony has been coming along nicely the last few weeks,” Lawrence said. “The boys did alright today.”
