DES MOINES — Four area girls have earned all-state basketball honors from the Iowa Newspaper Association and Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

Andrew’s Megan Johnson was a Class 1A second-team pick at a forward spot by the INA, while Prince of Peace’s Tori Isenhour was named to the third team as a forward.

Johnson was also a second-teamer on the IGCA team and Prince of Peace’s Lauren Ryan was a third-teamer.

Northeast’s Lindsey Sparks was a second-team IGCA selection in Class 2A.

Johnson, a 5-foot-10 junior, propelled Andrew to a 19-3 record and share of the Big East Conference title.

She averaged a double-double with 17.14 points and 11.38 rebounds per contest.

She led the Hawks in assists (2.9 per game) and blocks (0.48 a contest) while also coming up with 1.95 steals a game.

Johnson led the team in free throw shooting, making 68.6 percent of her shots.

Isenhour, a 5-11 junior, led the Irish in rebounds (8.36 per game) and steals (2.24 per game).

She also averaged 11 points, 1.62 assists and 0.1 blocks per game while shooting 49.21 percent from the floor and 65.6 percent from the free throw line.

Ryan, a 5-9 sophomore, led the Irish in scoring with 13.38 points a game, blocks with 0.29 a contest and free throw shooting with a 66 percent accuracy rate.

She also averaged 4.52 rebounds, 2.05 steals and 1.76 assists a game.

Both Isenhour and Ryan were key forces as the Irish compiled a 21-4 mark and earned a share of the Big East Conference title. Their efforts helped Prince of Peace advance within a game of the state tournament.

Sparks, a 5-11 senior, guided Northeast to a 17-5 record and share of the Big East Conference title.

She led the Rebels in scoring (15.33 points per game) and blocks (1.29 a contest).

Sparks also averaged 6.62 rebounds, 1.81 steals and 1.76 assists a game.

Shellie Mosman of Carroll was named Iowa’s “Miss Basketball” for 2006 by the INA.

A four-time INA all-state selection and an Iowa State University recruit, Mosman displayed her versatile talents with averages of 24 points, 9.4 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.3 steals this season.
