WATERLOO — Camanche High School’s doubles team of Nate Lambert and Trevor Mink took fifth place at the Iowa Class 1A boys state singles and doubles tennis tournament Saturday.

Lambert and Mink opened with a 6-4, 6-3 win over a team from Fort Dodge St. Edmond. In the second round the unseeded Lambert and Mink ran into the No. 1 seeds from Waterloo Columbus and dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision.

In consolation play Lambert and Mink downed another team from Columbus 6-2, 0-6, 6-3, then topped a team from Pella 7-6, 6-0 before claiming the fifth-place match with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over a team from Knoxville.

Consolation championship (fifth-place match)—Lambert-Mink def. Demaria-Russell (Knoxville) 7-5, 6-2.
