JOHNSTON — Chelsea Moore lived up to her seed so far with little trouble at the Iowa Girls Class 1A State Tennis Tournament.

Moore, a freshman from Camanche who is seeded first in singles play, opened Thursday’s action with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Bianca Bell of Iowa Falls-Alden.

That was followed with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jill Jensen of Estherville-Lincoln Central to set up a semifinal test this morning with Katy Delagardelle of Waterloo Columbus.

Delagardelle upset fourth-seeded Molly DeBolt of Red Oak 6-4, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

The other semifinal has third-seeded Katie Allen of Pella facing second-seeded Jennifer Bradfield of Fairfield.

“She was amazing today,” said Camanche coach Erin Montgomery of Moore. “She attacked in both matches and pretty much dominated. It was a great overall start.”
