DAVENPORT — Bjorn Rydder scored a hat trick, Sebastian Pena scored twice and Chris Capper had a goal and three assists and 11th-ranked Davenport Central defeated Clinton 8-0 on Tuesday in boys soccer.

“The Kings played well the first half,” Clinton coach Pat Cullen said. “Tyler Voss kept the fast, high-scoring forward (Nick) Mims in check, while the defense held strong.”

The River Kings got shots from Riley Bly, Voss, Sean Williams, Kas Asani and Michael Davis in the loss. Goalies Wade Klooster and Brian Faber stopped multiple shots.

“The defense, led by George Lemke, Wyatt Klooster, Logan Kruse and Evan Raab, played very well throughout the game and quickly moved the ball from the backfield to the front,” Cullen said. “Offensively, we took more shots, but we have a long way to go.”
