DUBUQUE — Dubuque Senior ended the season for the Clinton boys tennis team with a 5-1 victory in a Class 2A preliminary substate match Saturday.

Nolan Rolston recorded Clinton’s lone victory, a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory against Brandin Craig at No. 4 singles.

“The players battled hard and competed well,” Clinton coach David Moore said. “We return everyone next year, and this was a nice way to end this season and a great way to begin the offseason.”

No. 1 — Nick Mozena (DS) def. Drew Lakin 6-1, 6-0; No. 2 — Austin Schroeder (DS) def. Mitch Schumacher 6-4, 6-2; No. 3 — C.J. Reidl (DS) def. Rahul Aggarwal 6-0, 7-6; No. 4 — Nolan Rolston (C) def. Brandin Craig 6-4, 3-6, 6-2; No. 5 — Louis Waldmeir (DS) def. Saad Ansari 3-6, 6-4, 6-2; No. 6 — Brock Merritt (DS) def. Nick Dash 7-6, 3-6, 6-0.

No doubles matches were played.



Independence ousts Camanche

CAMANCHE — Independence won four of six singles matches and then clinched the victory with a win at No. 2 doubles in a 5-2 victory against Camanche on Saturday in a Class 1A preliminary substate match.
