LISBON — The 14th-ranked Prince of Peace Irish came up short in a battle of ranked Class 1A teams Thursday, falling 6-4 to the 15th-ranked Lisbon Lions in Big East Conference play.

Prince of Peace out-hit Lisbon 11-9, but left nine runners on. The Lions left just four runners on.

The Irish (10-5 overall, 4-2 Big East) scored first, pushing a run across in the top of the first inning as Emma Nelson, who was 4-for-4, singled and scored on Lauren Ryan’s RBI double.

Lisbon responded with two unearned runs in the bottom of the first.

Prince of Peace tied the score at 2-2 in the third. The Irish loaded the bases as Kelli Krogman reached on an error, Nelson singled and Lauren Ryan singled. Alyssa Kenney drove in the run with a groundout.

The Lions went up 5-2, scoring three runs with two outs in the bottom of the third.

Prince of Peace worked within a run, scoring twice in the fourth. Brooke Craig singled, Krogman walked and Nelson doubled them both home.

Lisbon tacked on an insurance run due to a passed ball in the sixth.

Lauren Ryan and Rachel Ryan each had two hits for Prince of Peace.

The Irish will compete in the Bellevue Tournament Saturday.
