Prince of Peace ran its Big East Conference record to 7-2 with a 66-29 homecoming victory over the winless Midland Eagles in Central Catholic Auditorium on Friday.

Katie Isenhour picked up another double-double in the game, collecting 18 points as the leading scorer in the game for the Irish and also pulling down 18 rebounds. Adding double figure scoring support for Prince of Peace was Ari Aquilani with 11 points helping the Irish to a 15-4 overall mark.

“It is hard, really hard, to get up for a team that hasn’t won a game,” Nelson said. “Overall, we played well and had decent minutes for everyone. The bench did a fine job for us.

“The defense was a little sloppy tonight,” the Irish coach said. “We didn’t have the intensity and technique we will need (in coming games).”

Not only did Isenhour have her double-double on the court she also served as homecoming queen having been elected to the honor.

“The game was more important than being queen,” she said. “I have  always worked hard on defense and as I became older, I became more of a scorer. I’ve tried not to have a bad game on defense.”

Carie Kuehn, Ari Aquilani and Chrissy Kokjohnin all scored baskets to give the Irish a 6-0 lead. Julia Isenhour added a free throw, Katie Isenhour a field goal, and Aquilani two free throws as Prince of Peace pushed its lead to 11-0 three minutes into the first quarter before Briana Schurbon hit a free throw for the Eagles.
