CALAMUS — The 10th-ranked Prince of Peace Irish softball team overcame a 3-0 deficit in a 5-3 Big East Conference win over the Calamus-Wheatland Warriors Monday.

Prince of Peace improved to 10-3 overall and 4-0 in the Big East. Calamus-Wheatland did all of its scoring in the third inning, with Megan Lahann’s triple serving as the key blow.

The Irish pulled even with three runs in the fourth inning, then went up with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth.

Prince of Peace batted around in the fourth. Katie Flood led off with a single and was replaced by pinch runner Katelyn Ryan who stole second and scored on a hit by Alyssa Kenney.

A single by Lauren Ryan and consecutive walks by Rachel Ryan and Brooke Craig loaded the bases. Kelli Krogman and Emma Nelson, who was 3-for-4, each drove in a run with hits.

In the top of the fifth Flood walked and Colleen Ryan reached on a fielder’s choice. After two stolen bases Colleen Ryan was driven in on a single up the middle by Lauren Ryan.

The Irish added an insurance run in the sixth as Nelson singled with one out and scored on a double to right-center by Flood.

Prince of Peace is back in Big East action Wednesday when they host North Cedar at 5 p.m. at the field near Gil’s Ballroom.
