LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Lugnuts handed the Clinton LumberKings their second setback in a row Friday night with a 6-3 victory at Oldsmobile Park.

Despite the outcome, Clinton actually had early leads of 2-0 and 3-1.

In the top of the first, the LumberKings loaded the bases with consecutive singles by Jose Vallejo, Matt Smith and Terry Blunt.

John Mayberry then reached on catcher’s interference to score Vallejo and John Whittleman’s sacrifice fly plated another run.

The Lugnuts scored a run in the second on a sacrifice fly by Jesus Gonzalez, but Clinton answered with a run in the third on Ian Gac’s solo homer to center.

That would be all the scoring for Clinton, though, while Lansing answered with three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth.

In the fifth, Jacob Butler, Joey Metropoulos and David Hicks each had RBI singles to make it 4-3.

In the sixth, Jason Armstrong came up with a two-run single to left for a 6-3 cushion.

Aaron Tressler (5-2), who worked seven innings while striking out five, picked up the win.

Kyle Rogers (1-5) suffered the loss.

The teams continue their four-game set with 6:05 p.m. games tonight and Sunday.

From there, Clinton stays on the road with four games at Peoria before returning to Alliant Energy Field next Friday to begin a four-game series with South Bend.
