LISLE, Ill. — The Morrison Fillies softball team advanced to the state tournament, pulling out a 6-4 win in eight innings over Elgin St. Edward in an Illinois Class 2A super-sectional championship Monday at Benedictine University.

Morrison scored two runs in the top of the eighth after St. Edward sent the game to extra innings with a three-run sixth that tied the score at 4-4.

The Fillies will meet today’s Beecher/Stanford Olympia super-sectional winner in a state tourney semifinal at 4:30 p.m. Friday in East Peoria.

The Beecher/Stanford Olympia matchup was postponed Monday.

No further information on Morrison’s super-sectional game was reported.
