ELDRIDGE — The Clinton River Kings saw three different leads slip away in Game 1 of a Mississippi Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader with the North Scott Lancers Monday.

Clinton led the opener 2-0 after 2 1/2 innings, 3-2 after 3 1/2 innings and 6-4 after 4 1/2 innings, only to see North Scott come back each time as the Lancers took a 7-6 decision.

In Game 2 North Scott scored in each of its six at-bats, rolling to a 15-6 victory.

The River Kings (4-11, 2-10 MAC) got off to a good start, scoring twice in the first inning of Game 1. The Lancers (7-14, 3-9) pulled even with two runs in the third inning.

Clinton went up 3-2 with a run in the fourth, but North Scott went ahead 4-3 with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

The Kings surged back in front with three runs in the fifth, making it 6-4. The Lancers bounced with three runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.

Dylan Schneeberger had three hits and an RBI to pace the Clinton offense. Teammates Greg Espey and Ryan Clausen also drove in runs.

North Scott took immediate control of the second game with a four-run first inning. The River Kings responded with two runs in the second inning to make it 4-2.

The Lancers built an 11-2 advantage with back-to-back three-run innings in the second and third innings, and another run in the fourth.

Clinton trimmed the margin to 11-5 with a three-run fifth. North Scott scored once in the fifth before the Kings scored once in the sixth to make it 12-6. The Lancers tacked on three more runs in the sixth.

Espey drove in two runs in Game 2. Teammate Dustin Bengtson contributed two hits and an RBI. Schneeberger and Dustin Carpenter also had RBIs for Clinton.

The River Kings are back in action tonight when they visit Preston.
