SAVANNA, Ill. — The West Carroll volleyball team keeps finding ways to win.

This time, the Thunder won the first game, dropped the second by 12 points but rallied for 25-15, 13-25, 25-13 victory over Byron on Wednesday night at West Carroll High School.

“West Carroll senior leadership made the Thunder keep pushing for a great 2-1 match win,” coach John Kovaka explained.

West Carroll improved to 3-0 overall this season after the victory.

Setter Chelsey Sipe recorded 35 assists, 21 digs, two kills and five service aces.

She had “outstanding play set selection,” Kovaka said.

Becca Fritz registered team highs in digs (25) and kills (14). Kelsey Bull had eight kills and 14 assists, while Sofie Morhardt added four kills and Katy Cook contributed 19 digs.

Serving leads Unity to sweep

STERLING, Ill. — Unity Christian went 42-for-44 serving with 11 aces to sweep Sterling Christian 25-16, 25-16 on Tuesday night.

Unity had six players go perfect from the service line: Heather Hintz, Sherry Nelson, Hannah Dykstra, Callie Willoughby, Jordan Hirl and Alyssa Dalrymple. Willoughby maintained her perfect serving average this season.

Dykstra recorded eight kills, four blocks and three aces. Becca Meinema had a team-high four aces to go with three kills.
