PRESTON — The Camanche Indians jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, but ultimately fell 6-4 to Preston in Big East Conference softball play on Wednesday.

The Trojans fought their way back into the game by taking advantage of six Camanche errors. Preston scored four in the fourth to tie the game, then took the lead in the fifth with a pair of runs.

Preston’s Kelcie Bormann earned the win, while Camanche’s Lauren Ryan suffered the loss, despite allowing just five hits and giving up no walks.

“I was really impressed with how we improved our batting situation from last game,” Camanche head coach Troy Dodd said. “The kids hit the ball a lot better tonight, but when you get runs you can’t give them back on errors. I give Preston credit, they never gave up and they hit the ball well too.”

“Camanche came out and hit the ball well. We capitalized on a few errors in the fourth and again in the fifth to get the lead,” Preston head coach Tim Zeimet said.
