IOWA CITY — The Prince of Peace Irish have advanced to the state golf tournament at Spring Valley Golf Course in Livermore with a second place showing in district action.

The Irish took second at the district golf meet at Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Iowa City on Saturday with a score of 327.

New London won the meet with 322.

Lisbon’s Tyler Gunderson took medalist honors with a round of 74.

Leading the way for Prince of Peace was freshman Eric Sikkema who fired a round of 80.

Joe Vens was just a stroke behind Sikkema with an 81. Ben Lehmkuhl shot an 82, while Drew Sikkema shot 84.

Calamus-Wheatland was eighth in the team standings as Ryan Mason and Sean Patterson led the Warriors with rounds of 89.

Preston finished 11th as Lucas Assenmacher led the way with an 89. Austin Hughes was also solid in shooting a 90.
