BETTENDORF — Pleasant Valley scored early in the game and showed Clinton why it’s ranked in the Iowa Class 2A girls soccer rankings with a 10-0 victory against the River Queens on Thursday.

“PV is an excellent team and has been ranked in the top five in the state for much of the year,” Clinton coach Eric Gettes said. “We fought hard until the very end and had some good quality play both on offense and defense. Even though we fell behind quickly, my team never gave up tonight, and I'm very proud of their efforts.”

The River Queens play in the West Liberty tournament this weekend and then return home to play West Liberty on Tuesday for Senior Night.

“I hope we have a great turnout on Tuesday night to recognize our seniors,” Gettes said.

Pleasant Valley also won the freshman/sophomore game 7-0.
