GOOSE LAKE — Kelsey Lorenzen delivered a game-winning single in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Northeast a 7-6 win against Olin in a season-opening high school softball game Wednesday.

Sammi Farrell scored the winning run. She reached base on a one-out error, stole second and then scored on Lorenzen’s hit.

The Rebels took a 6-3 lead in a five-run fifth that included Demi Diedrich’s two-run triple, but Olin came right back to pull even with three runs in the sixth. A run-scoring single by losing pitcher Makenzie Ginn tied the game at 6-6.

Ginn finished with 11 strikeouts, while winning pitcher Audrey Moehr had six for Northeast.
