DAVENPORT — The Clinton boys golf team tied for third place in Monday's quad meet with Davenport Central, Pleasant Valley and North Scott at Duck Creek Golf Course.

Clinton, ranked No. 23 in the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association state poll, shot a 153 to tie North Scott.

Pleasant Valley won the event with a 140. Four PV golfers shot an even-par 35, and all eight in the lineup shot 40 or under. Davenport Central shot a 152 to edge Clinton and North Scott by a stroke for second place.

Clinton's Christian Rowan shot a 35, his best score this season, to share medalist honors with five other golfers.

Tony Balk shot a 38, while Jeremy Miller and Logan Hood each shot a 40 for the River Kings (11-24-3). Balk and Hood both shot season lows.

“It was certainly positive to shoot some lower scores,” Clinton coach Paul Niedermeyer explained. “We just need to keep trying to improve on the little things to lower our scores, so we can be more competitve in the end of the season tournaments.”
