BYRON, Ill. — Jordan Kasbohm allowed only a leadoff a single by Sam Herely in the seventh inning as she retired 21 of the 22 batters she faced to lead West Carroll past Harvard 5-0 in the Class 2A sectional semifinal softball game Thursday.

“Jordan pitched a masterful game, and our defense was excellent, as well,” West Carroll coach Don Mathey said.

Kasbohm struck out 12 batters and didn’t issue a walk as she improved her record to 17-4.

Kasbohm had plenty of early offensive support. The Thunder (29-8) scored three runs in the second inning and two more in the third. Kayla Kasbohm led the offense with a 3-for-3 day at the plate.

“Outside of Kayla Kasbohm we really did not hit the ball very well,” Mathey said. “We took advantage of Harvard’s miscues.”

Harvard finished the year with an 8-16 record.

West Carroll will play Oregon in Saturday’s sectional championship. Oregon beat Stillman Valley 7-2.
