L-Kings get back to winning ways

BELOIT, Wis. — The Clinton LumberKings broke a brief two-game losing skid with a 4-2 win over the Beloit Snappers to split their four-game series Thursday night.
Trailing 2-0 after Beloit scored once in each of the first two innings, Clinton went ahead with a three-run fifth inning and tacked on an insurance run in the ninth.
The L-Kings’ Renny Osuna was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Teammate Engel Beltre was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Clinton starting pitcher Derek Holland (3-0) got the win. He allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.
Chris Dennis turned in three innings of one-hit, shutout relief before Daniel Sattler came on to close things out with a scoreless ninth for his third save.
The L-Kings open a three-game set at Cedar Rapids tonight at 6:30.
