CASCADE — Drew Sikkema of Prince of Peace successfully defended his title Friday by winning the 28-team Cascade Invitational in 17 minutes, 16 seconds. He beat runner-up Eric Thien of Tipton, the No. 1-ranked runner in Class 2A, by 9 seconds.
“Drew has been amazing this year,” Prince of Peace coach Dave Lawrence said. “He hasn’t been beaten and he is running with all the great runners in the state and leaving them behind when he needs to. He’s looking invincibile.”
Prince of Peace’s Audrey Griffin placed sixth in the girls race.
There also was a middle school race, with about 300 runners, and Prince of Peace’s Jackie Kokjohn was the overall girls winner.
