Sikkema, Griffin each take wins at Marquette Invite

BELLEVUE — Once again, Drew Sikkema and Audrey Griffin turned in stellar performances to lead the Prince of Peace cross country teams.

Each took first in their respective races at the Bellevue Marquette Co-Ed Cross Country Invitational on Monday.

Sikkema won the boys’ portion of the meet with a time of 16:54, while Griffin was tops in the girls’ race with a clocking of 16:02.

The Durant boys won the team title, while the host Mohawks won the girls’ portion behind Katie Flogel’s second place finish.

The Irish boys were just three points behind Durant in the team scores.

Marquette’s Brandt Moore finished 14 seconds behind Sikkema for runner-up honors, while Prince of Peace’s Riley Bly was just nine seconds behind Moore in third place.

Camanche’s Codie Adams finished fourth to the trio of Sikkema, Moore and Bly.

Bellevue Marquette (third), Camanche (fourth), North Cedar (fifth) and Midland (sixth) rounded out the boys’ team stadnings.

The Prince of Peace girls took third, while Camanche was fourth.

Andrew’s Anne Bruno took third, while Camanche’s Lorena Temple was fourth.
