Clinton swimmer Hess qualifies for state meet

DUBUQUE — Clinton senior Libby Hess placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke Saturday in the Iowa girls swimming regional meet at Dubuque Hempstead and earned a trip to the state meet this Saturday in Marshalltown.

Hess finished in 1 minute, 10.19 seconds for the 14th-fastest regional time in the state. Hannah Maher of Decorah won the event in 1:06.36.

Hess was the only Clinton girl to advance to the state meet.
