FULTON, Ill. — Unity Christian won the championship at their own tournament with a 61-50 win over Morningstar on Tuesday.
Dan Meinema poured in 19 points in the win as the Knights led 14-9 after one quarter.
Unity led 32-28 at the half as Morningstar’s Tim Daniel scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the second quarter.
The Knights outscored Morningstar 29-22 in the second half to secure the win.
Sterling 71,
Morrison 52
STERLING, Ill. — Jason Smith tallied 16 points, but it wasn’t enough as Morrison fell 71-52 to Sterling in action at the Sauk Valley tournament.
Sterling raced out to a 26-10 lead after one quarter and the Mustangs had a hard time getting back in the game.
The Mustangs were only outscored 33-31 in the second half as they attempted to rally.
Zach Stralow added eight points for Morrison.
Erie 59,
Knoxville 37
ORION, Ill. —Erie limited Knoxville to just four first-quarter points on their way to a 59-37 win in boys basketball action on Tuesday.
Lukas Jepson hit a pair of 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 16 points for the Cardinals. Matt Pyse added 10 in the win.
Erie led 15-4 after one quarter and 31-18 at the half.
Knoxville did outscore the Cardinals 16-10 in the final stanza, but the damage was done as Erie held on for the win.
Matt Temple contributed eight points in the win.
