Rockets get past Mustangs

STERLING, Ill. — Jason Smith scored 20 points Wednesday, but that wasn’t enough as Rock Falls defeated Morrison 58-47 in boys basketball at the Sauk Valley Shootout.

The Mustangs outscored the Rockets 11-6 in the third quarter to pull within one point, but Rock Falls outscored Morrison 23-15 in the final quarter.

FORRESTON, Ill. — Rockford Christian Life defeated Fulton Unity Christian 57-27 on Wednesday in the seventh-place game of the Forreston Thanksgiving Tournament in girls basketball.

Rochelle beat Stockton 52-50 in the championship game, while Stillman Valley beat the host school 44-42 for third place and Winnebago beat Lanark Eastland 56-43 for fifth.
