BELOIT, Wis. — As far as they concerned, the Clinton LumberKings have probably seen enough of the Beloit Snappers.

Playing their third series of the young Midwest League baseball season against the Snappers, the LumberKings came up empty in three attempts over the weekend. The Snappers won 4-3 on Saturday, scoring the go-ahead run on a bases-loaded walk, and then they rallied twice to sweep a doubleheader Sunday at Pohlman Field.

Beloit won the opener 4-3 in nine innings and took the second game 6-5. Clinton has played nine of its 18 games against the Snappers.

The scheduled seven innings were not enough in the first half of Sunday’s pair of games. Ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning, the LumberKings were five outs away from evening up the series.

Clinton starter Daniel Missaki allowed a one-out single to Yairo Munoz before Peter Miller replaced him out of the bullpen. Miller got Sandber Pimentel to hit a fly ball to Clinton center fielder Arby Fields, but the outfielder misplayed it on the warning track, which allowed Munoz to score the game-tying run.

Osmer Morales (0-2), the third pitcher of the game for Clinton, picked up the tough-luck loss. After a one-out walk to Argenis Raga, Morales balked him to second base, the league high sixth balk for Clinton. Morales retired Edwin Diaz and appeared to have the game headed for the 10th, as Brett Vertigan grounded out to shortstop Gianfranco Wawoe. But Clinton first baseman Kristian Brito could not handle the throw, and Raga hustled all the way from second and scored the winning run on the error.

Beloit starter Brett Graves -- matched up against Missaki for the third time -- had his best start of the season, as he allowed three runs over six innings. The bullpen duo of Jose Torres and Carlos Navas (1-0) pitched three shutout innings.

After the tough loss in Game 1, the LumberKings fell into an early 2-0 hole in Game 2 before Clinton starter Tyler Herb settled in for his best start of the season. He allowed  five hits and two runs over five innings, leaving with a 5-2 lead.

Jarrett Brown (1-2) relieved Herb to begin the sixth inning. The left-hander retired only one of the five Beloit hitters that he faced. The first two hitters of the inning singled, and Brown walked Max Kuhn to load the bases. After he struck out Shawn Duinkerk, Joe Bennie hit a grand slam that cleared the wall in right-center field.

The LumberKings drew a one-out walk in the seventh inning, but Gianfranco Wawoe ran for Joe DeCarlo, Estarlyn Morales flied out to center field, then Wawoe was caught trying to steal second base.

Bennie entered the doubleheader without a hit in 22 at-bats at Pohlman Field and was 0-for-18 with men in scoring position overall this season. But the outfielder finished the pair of games with five hits, four runs driven in and two runs scored.

Wawoe extended his hitting streak to a team-high 11 games in the opener, and Nelson Ward ran his hit streak to six games with hits in both games.

On Saturday, a big first inning was not enough for Clinton as the Bees chipped away and won.

In his second consecutive start vs. the LumberKings, Daniel Gossett made one mistake over six strong innings. After two walks in the first inning, Estarlyn Morales hit his first home run of the season and gave Clinton a 3-0 lead. Gossett followed with five shutout innings, and the Beloit bullpen tossed three perfect frames.

Clinton starter Jeffeson Medina, making his second consecutive start vs. Beloit, scattered six hits and three runs over five innings. He allowed an RBI single to Max Kuhn in the first, an RBI single to Sandber Pimentel in the third and threw a wild pitch that plated the tying run in the fourth.

Clinton’s Nick Kiel (0-1) allowed singles in the seventh inning to Brett Vertigan and Yairo Munoz, and struck out Pimentel before Rohn Pierce replaced him. Pierce then walked Kuhn on four pitches, which loaded the bases, and he then walked in the go-ahead run on a 3-2 pitch to Bennie.

Clinton has today off before beginning a three-game series against Wisconsin on Tuesday at Ashford University Field.
