CLINTON — Clinton scored 16 runs in the Midwest League Championship opening game to defeat the Great Lakes Loons, 16-6.

Rayder Ascanio raked in four RBIs while Chris Mariscal and Conner Hale put up three RBIs apiece.

Clinton tallied 13 hits with six of them being for extra bases. Ascanio and Mariscal recorded triples.

Luiz Gohara lasted the longest among the LumberKings pitchers with a 3 2/3-inning outing. He allowed five earned runs on six hits. 

Rohn Pierce picked up the win by allowing two hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.
