CHICAGO (AP) — A person familiar with the situation says the Chicago White Sox are calling up prized pitching prospect Carlos Rodon from Triple-A Charlotte and will have him work out of the bullpen at least for now.
The person, speaking Sunday on the condition of anonymity because the move had not been announced, confirmed reports by several outlets. A corresponding transaction was to be made before today’s game against the Cleveland Indians.
The No. 3 pick in last year’s draft, he joins the Cubs’ Kris Bryant as the second high-profile Chicago prospect to be called up in the past few days.
Rodon was 1-0 with a 3.60 ERA in two starts for Charlotte. He had 13 strikeouts and four walks.
