A pair of Clinton underclassmen earned honorable mention accolades when the Mississippi Athletic Conference announced its boys basketball postseason awards.

Sophomore Jalen Jones led the River Kings in conference play with 10.1 points and 2.8 assists a game. He also grabbed 5.8 rebounds a game. Jones scored the 12th-most points in the MAC during the conference slate.

The other River King to be honored was freshman Brady Ernst. Ernst led Clinton in MAC play with 8.1 rebounds a game. He also averaged 8.9 points a game. Ernst was fourth in the conference in total rebounds and rebounds a game.

Davenport West senior Joe Scott and Davenport Assumption junior Billy Daniel were named co-players of the year. Scott led the conference in scoring at 20.2 points a game. He was also sixth in the MAC in steals. Daniel scored 15.6 points a game, good for sixth, and grabbed 6.7 rebounds a game, good for seventh.

Daniel helped his team to an unbeaten 16-0 conference season.

Assumption’s Joe Barrer was named coach of the year.
