MAQUOKETA — Abe Becker had a huge first half, then his teammates picked up the slack after intermission and helped Maquoketa complete a sweep of Clinton on Saturday night.

Becker scored all 22 of his points in the first half for the Cardinals, who won 58-51. His sixth 3-pointer of the first half tied the game, then he gave the Cardinals the lead with a basket just before halftime.

Freshman Connor Becker added 11 points for the Cardinals (5-8).

The loss dropped Clinton to 1-9.

Earlier, Maquoketa beat the Clinton girls 54-36. The Cardinals pulled away by outscoring the River Queens 20-6 in the fourth quarter.

Hannah Ambrosy scored 14 points to lead three Maquoketa players into double digits. Autumn Dykstra scored 12, and Nell Sybesma had 10.

Molly Chapman had a game-high 19 for the Queens.
