DEKALB, Ill. — Fulton bowlers Seth and Stan Sikkema qualified for the Illinois High School Association state bowling tournament Saturday.
Seth Sikkema will make a return trip to the state meet after recording the second-best score of the four sectional meets in the state.
He placed 39th last year with a 2,520 total. This year's state tournament is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at St. Clair Bowl in O'Fallon, Illinois.
Seth Sikkema, a senior, was the runner-up at Saturday's DeKalb Sectional at Mardi Gras Lanes. He finished 51 pins behind champion Lucas Pinkus of Lincolnshire Stevenson, who rolled a 1,547 total in six games. Sikkema had series of 708 and 788 for a 1,496-pin total. His best two games came in his second series, a 284 in Game One and a 279 in Game Three.
Stan Sikkema, a junior, had the seventh-best total on the day and earned one of the seven advancing berths for bowlers not on a state-qualifying team. He started with a 259-276-227—762 series and followed that with a 597 for a 1,359 total.
