BETTENDORF — Bettendorf turned a close game into a rout in the second half, beating Clinton 67-33 in Mississippi Athletic Conference boys basketball Tuesday night.

D.J. Carton led the second-half surge.

Clinton trailed 28-20 at halftime and pulled within six points on a couple of occasions. But the Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0 MAC) went on an 8-0 run to push the lead to 38-24 in the third quarter.

After Brennen Lemke made a pair of free throws for Clinton, Carton went on a personal 8-0 run that included two three-point plays and a dunk off a steal. He then passed off to Phil Gist on the next possession, and Gist buried a 3-pointer to make it 49-26. Gist finished with five 3-pointers.

Clinton actually led early, 5-3, behind a 3-pointer from Lemke and a basket by LJ Henderson. But Bettendorf answered with a 7-0 run and never trailed again. Clinton got within 18-16 in the second quarter, but a 3-pointer by Gist started a 10-4 run to close the half.

Hoyer leads Rebels to win

GOOSE LAKE — Braeden Hoyer scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the first half and led Northeast past North Cedar 57-40 on Tuesday in River Valley Conference boys basketball.

Hoyer scored 12 in the second quarter, when the Rebels stretched a 16-9 lead to 36-25.

Luke Empen finished with 13 points for Northeast, and Dawson Stoll added 11.

Ethan Sahr scored 19 for North Cedar, including four 3-pointers in the first half.

Camanche edges Monticello

CAMANCHE—Evan Hall scored 20 points for the Indians as they edged Monticello 63-58 in Camanche on Tuesday night.

Camanche trailed by one after the first eight minutes of play, but then came out with a big second quarter and went into the halftime break with the ten point advantage. Hall—scoring 20 for the Indians—put up 17 points in the first half of play.

The Panthers would outscore the Indians in the second half, but Camanche came away with the five point advantage when time ran out.

Cam Soenksen added 15 points for Camanche and Dev Patel had nine. Patel also had seven assists and eight rebounds. Caleb Delzell grabbed seven boards and Calvin Ottens brought down eight.

Alexander Neakon has 23 for the Panthers, 19 coming in the second half comeback effort.

Camanche girls beat Monticello

CAMANCHE — The inside-outside attack of Lea Lefebure and Marly Bussa keyed a 57-40 win for Camanche against Monticello on Tuesday in River Valley Conference girls basketball.

Bussa buried three 3-point baskets in the first half, had four for the game and finished with a game-high 16 points. Lefebure, a 6-foot-2 senior center, scored 15, although she also made one 3.

The Indians (3-1) finished with 10 3-point baskets. Camaryn Carstensen made three and finished with 11 points.
