MUSCATINE — Clinton split a pair of Mississippi Athletic Conference wrestling duals Thursday night, beating Muscatine 65-15 but losing 65-8 to North Scott.

Isaac Larkin and Ethan Barry were double winners for the River Kings, and Larkin turned in a pair of dominating performances.

Wrestling at 138 pounds, Larkin pinned Muscatine's Ryan Townsend in 1 minute, 7 seconds. In his other match, he recorded a 15-0 technical fall against North Scott's Deven Strief. He piled up three near falls in the match that lasted 3:45.

Barry (195 pounds) pinned the Muskies' Anthony Mathias just 34 seconds into the second period after building a 10-0 lead. His other match was closer, although he never trailed in an 8-5 decision against Jared Rus.

Darrin Bethard, Ben Chapman and Trevor Bitner also had pins for Clinton against Muscatine. Bethard pinned Kuinton Middugh in 2:14 at 132 pounds, Chapman stuck Gavyn Ashley in 3:37 at 160 and Bitner flattened Carter Oldfield in 1:54 at 170.

Jess Chapman recorded a technical fall at 145 for Clinton against the Muskies, and Justin Brewer (106), Ashten Corbin (113), Tanner Samuels (120), Lane Smalley (126) and Nick Hoffman (152) received forfeits.

SWIMMING

Bulldogs hand Clinton loss

BETTENDORF — Jack Marlowe recorded Clinton's only victory in a 134-36 loss to Bettendorf in boys swimming Thursday night.

Marlowe swam the 100-yard butterfly in 1 minute, 5.91 seconds to beat Bettendorf's Nick Lank by more than 2 1/2 seconds. Marlowe added a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke. The Bulldogs' Andrew Ottavianelli (1:00.07) and Xavier Lee (1:05.81) both finished ahead of Marlowe (1:10.25).

Kyle Gassman was the only other Clinton swimmer with a top-three individual finish. He took third in the 100 breast stroke in 1:16.89. CJ Myers won the race in 1:08.95.

Bettendorf also won the junior varsity meet 70-7.

WRESTLING

Fulton beats Newman, AFC

FULTON, Ill. — Fulton swept Sterling Newman 60-22 and Ashton-Franklin Center 71-12 in a triangular wrestling meet Thursday night on Stan Borgman Court.

Two-time state champion Tyler Fleetwood recorded two pins for the Steamers at 138 pounds, and Max Pannell (195), Eli Pannell (220) and Taylor Fleetwood (285) pinned both of their opponents at the heaviest three weights.

Tony Heinitz (160 pounds) had a pin and a decision for Fulton.

Panthers win pair of duals

ERIE, Ill. — Erie/Prophetstown defeated Riverdale 49-28 and Polo 59-22 in a pair of duals Thursday.

Chris Bonnell, Mat Garrison and Lucas Carey each had two pins for the Panthers, and two-time state placewinner Garrett Passmore had a pin and a technical fall at 160 pounds.

Carter Jepson and Mack Foy also were double winners for Erie/Prophetstown.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Rockridge edges Erie

EDGINGTON, Ill. — Rockridge outscored Erie 9-6 in the fourth quarter to slip past the Cardinals 32-29 on Thursday in Three Rivers Conference girls basketball.

Jessica Stice scored four of her team-high 11 points in the fourth quarter and Fran Letts added three in the final frame for the Rockets.

Whitney Bramm led Erie with 11 points.

The Cardinals led 18-11 at halftime but were limited to three 3-pointers and a two-point field goal after halftime.
