FULTON, Ill. — Big nights from Cody Sanderson and Tyler Bruggenwirth put the Fulton Steamers past Erie 51-45 on Tuesday on Senior Night.
The Steamers jumped out of the gates with the momentum, scoring 20 in the first eight minutes of play, including two 3-point field goals from Keegan Kloepping. By halftime they had the 33-20 advantage.
Bruggenwirth led the offense with 21 points, followed closely by Sanderson with 18. Kloepping had six and Kyle Schipper had four.
Steamers improve to 21-8 and 9-2 in the TRAC.
Bellevue girls advance
BELLEVUE, Iowa — The ranked Bellevue girls continue their postseason play after a 58-49 win over North Cedar at home on Tuesday night.
The Comets were trailing the Knights by three after the first eight minutes, but outscored them 21-12 in the second quarter to take the six point lead at the half.
The Comets led the rest of the way.
Giana Michels had a team high 15 points, followed by Rebecca Schroeder with 14. Both Lindsey Banowetz and Teresa Paulsen had 10, and Camryn Reeg scored nine to round out the scoring.
Schroeder also pulled down 14 rebonds for the double-double, and tossed in six steals.
The Comets go on to face the winner of Delhi and Maquoketa Valley in Dyersville this Friday.
Thunder downs Stockton
STOCKTON, Ill. — Five threes from Dawson Wurster helped push the West Carroll Thunder past Stockton on the road on Tuesday night.
The Thunder defense only allowed Stockton to score two points in the first quarter of play. West Carroll easily maintained their lead the rest of the game.
Wurster led with 13 points, while Jacob Dunk put up 10.
