Fleetwood to medal

Fulton senior 285-pounder Taylor Fleetwood battled back from an earlier quarterfinal loss with a pin in the consolation round of the Illinois High School state wrestling tournament. 

Fleetwood defeated Curtis Cokel in 2:42. He will now face Logan Lee in the consolation round.

Fleetwood sent to consolations

Fulton senior 285-pounder Taylor Fleetwood was unable to get much offense going against Vandalia's Anthony Enlow in a 5-0 loss this morning in quarterfinal action. 

Fleetwood will now move on to the consolation bracket in Class 1A.

Pannell wins ultimate tiebreaker to advance

It took awhile, but Fulton 195-pounder Eli Pannell earned a berth in tonight's Illinois state wrestling semifinal round. 

Tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, Pannell outlasted Will Heikes 3-2 in the ultimate tiebreaker to advance to the semifinals. Neither wrestler could score in the three overtime periods, allowing Pannell to ride out Heikes in the ultimate tiebreaker stanza. 

Pannell will now face No. 2 ranked Justin Coggins.

Quest for 3 titles starts on right foot

Fulton High School senior Tyler Fleetwood earned a 6-2 decision against Fithian's Ren Dazey early this morning to move on the semifinals at 132 pounds. 

Fleetwood now has a rematch with Jared VanVleet, of Stillman Valley. The No. 1-ranked 132-pounder VanVleet defeated Fleetwood 4-2 in overtime during the Class 1A Sectional in Oregon, Illinois, last weekend. 

The semifinals start at 7 p.m. today in Champaign, Illinois.
