Boys basketball roundup: Zaruba's big night leads Easton Valley

MILES — Chase Zaruba sank five 3-pointers during a 24-point first half as he led Easton Valley to a 70-41 victory against Prince of Peace on Friday in Tri-Rivers Conference boys basketball.

Zaruba finished with 35 points, half of Easton Valley’s total.

The River Hawks scored six of the game’s first seven points and raced to a 24-9 lead after one quarter.

Logan Wilhelm added 14 points for Easton Valley, and Craiton Andresen finished with 11.

Lucas Laufenberg scored 10 points to lead Prince of Peace, which saw its two-game winning streak end.

Neuhalfen drops 23 on Morrison



MORRISON, Ill. — Parker Neuhalfen scored 23 points for the Bureau Valley Storm in a 63-55 win over Morrison. Neuhalfen made four 3-pointers, while three others scored four additional 3-pointers combined.

Bureau Valley opened up the night with 24 first quarter points.

The Storm had one other player who scored in double-figure: Tommy Johnston with 13 points. Josh Mead scored nine points for Bureau Valley.

Morrison tried to bounce back in the latter two quarters by scoring 18 and 20.

Leading the way for Morrison was Kaleb Church with 15 points and followed by Hunter Hamstra with 13 points.
