Erie girls capture league trophy

---- — KEWANEE, Ill. — Katlyn Weber led four Erie players to top-12 finishes Thursday and the Cardinals won the Three Rivers Conference girls golf title by six strokes over Princeton.

Weber shot a 95 and placed fourth to lead Erie to a 401-stroke team performance. Weber shot a 46 on the front side and a 49 on the back. Erie teammates Morgan Newton (100), Lexi Floming (101) and Sera Bebon (105) came in ninth, 10th and 12th on the par-72 Baker Park Golf Course.

Paige Dougherty of Kewanee won medalist honors with a 90, while Princeton’s Sophia Suarez (93) and Morrison’s Jaden Workman (94) rounded out the top three. Mackenna Munson of Fulton tied for seventh with a 99. Dougherty’s round included a 41 on the front nine. Workman shot 45-49, Munson 48-51.

Prophetstown earned a fifth-place finish in the team standings. Led by Taylor Kelly, the Prophets shot a 505. Kelly finished 21st with a 117.
