Morrison drops 2 to Byron

MORRISON, Ill. — Morrison tried to grab two wins at home against Byron, but the Mustangs didn’t have the day they were dreaming, losing both games. Morrison dropped the doubleheader by scores of 12-4 and 11-4.

Brock Smith went 3-for-3 in the opener. He had singles in the second, fourth and sixth innings. Morrison compiled seven hits.

Smith’s second-inning single brought in Justin Jensen, while Mason Sitzmore drove in Triston Houzenga on a fielder’s choice later in the inning.

The other pair of runs for the Mustangs came in the fourth inning. Jensen led off the inning with a single to shallow left field. He later scored on Smith’s single. Smith then scored on Andy Bird’s RBI single.

Ben Tegeler had the offensive production for Morrison in Game 2, going 3-for-4 with a run. Four different Mustangs brought in an RBI — Jensen, Zach Vandervort, Sitzmore and Kollin Burn.
