---- — CLINTON — With tornado warnings, hellacious winds and interspersed downpours, local high schools decided Monday was not a good day to play ball.
Nine area doubleheaders were postponed because of the elements. Several have scheduled makeup dates, while others are waiting to coordinate new dates.
Clinton baseball and softball postponed home doubleheaders against Mississippi Athletic Conference rival Burlington. Both games will be made up this week — the River Kings at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the Queens at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Northeast and Bellevue delayed their Big East Conference games. The girls will play July 1, the boys July 8.
Calamus-Wheatland and Camanche have not set a makeup date for the Indians’ home Big East doubleheader. Both softball and baseball games were called off Monday.
No information was provided for Preston and Prince of Peace’s baseball doubleheader.
Thunderstorms are in the forecast again for tonight, but if the weather holds off, the Irish, Trojans, Indians, Warriors, Comets and Mohawks will all play games in softball and/or baseball.
