---- — MARION — Clinton had more hits, but Marion Linn-Mar scored more runs as it beat the River Kings 4-1 in non-conference high school baseball Saturday.
Dustin Caldwell and Cody Collender had two hits apiece for the River Kings, who totaled seven safeties in the loss. Collender doubled, and he drove in Clinton’s lone run, which came in the fifth inning.
Linn-Mar managed just three hits off Clinton starter Jake Faur (1-2) and one more off Jordan Chapman, who pitched the final two innings. But Faur also issued six walks, and Clinton’s defense committed three errors.
The Lions scored single runs in the first and third innings, then added two more in the bottom of the fifth after Clinton crept within 2-1.
The River Kings return to conference play today with a 5 p.m. home doubleheader against Muscatine at Eagle Height Elementary School.
