Central DeWitt and Camanche earned both at-large berths to the girls bowling state tournament Tuesday as the teams at the Camanche qualifying meet at Imperial Lanes rolled three of the top four scores in the state.
Maquoketa won the boys tournament, but runner-up North Scott also advanced to next Monday's state meet at Plaza Lanes in Des Moines.
North Scott was the girls champion with a 2,868-pin total. Central DeWitt (2,787) was the runner-up, while Camanche took third with a 2,753 total. Only Keokuk (2,795) had a score higher than the qualifiers at Camanche.
Shelby Carrier led the Sabers with the second-best individual total in the state, a 447, tying North Scott's Nicole Butlett for meet honors. Veronica Weigandt of DeWitt also qualified individually with a 409, as did the Camanche duo of Morgan Determan (396) and Alison Seibel (391).
The Maquoketa boys turned in the second-best 1A score in the state, a 3,136, to beat North Scott by 39 pins.
Luke Quinlan of Maquoketa had the highest individual score, with games of 279 and 202 for a 481 total.
Karson Smith earned a trip to Des Moines with an individual score of 459, rolling games of 225 and 234.
