---- — DURANT — Tevin Stoecker brought in two runs in a six-run seventh inning on Thursday night to help Northeast knock off Durant-Bennett 8-6 in River Valley Conference baseball.

“It’s nice to come out with a late-inning win,” Northeast coach Tyler Howe said.

The Wildcats, however, struck first by scoring a run in the third inning off a Gavin Blake single. The inning led off with an error committed by Stoecker, who started the game as the Rebels first baseman.

Northeast responded by scoring a pair of runs in the fourth off a Wildcats error that allowed Stoecker to score. Matt Haferbier had an RBI single two hitters later that brought in Ketzalli Dondiego.

Durant-Bennett had its big inning in the bottom of the fourth. The Wildcats scored three runs off of five hits that included a leadoff double.

The Wildcats also scored two runs on two hits, both coming with two outs.

The Rebels’ seventh-inning rally started with five straight singles that included the first RBI of the inning coming from Nick Bailey. Zach Scott also had an RBI.

Northeast used four pitchers — Michael Hartung, Stoecker, Dondiego and Axel Dondiego.

Hartung started the game with 3 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on 67 pitches. He also struck out five of the 19 batters he faced while walking one. Stoecker finished the fourth inning by using 11 pitches to retire the one hitter he faced.

The Dondiego duo closed out the final three innings. Ketzalli threw two innings on 37 pitches; he allowed two runs while striking out four. Axel needed eight pitches to retire the four hitters he faced in the seventh.

On Wednesday night, Ketzalli Dondiego had three RBIs in a 14-0 win over Wapello. Brad Lashelle threw a two-hit shutout in the six-inning performance. Lashelle needed just 64 pitches while striking out four and walking two.
