TROY MILLS — Northeast traveled to North Linn to play a pair of games on Saturday, and the Rebels came out winning both games.
The Rebels defeated Clayton Ridge 11-1 in five innings, while Northeast beat host North Linn 9-5.
In its win against Clayton Ridge, the Rebels scored five runs in the third inning after scoring four in the second inning.
In the second inning, Jack Murphy led things off with an RBI triple, then Nick Bailey singled on the very next pitch to bring in Murphy.
Charlie Marcucci bunted in Bailey; Nick Wall scored on a Zach Parson single.
In the third inning, Wall, Marcucci, and Tevin Stoecker had back-to-back-to-back hits that broke open the Rebels’ rally and added its score to 9-0.
Northeast added two more runs in the fourth thanks to a two-run single that wall hit on the first pitch of his at-bat.
Michael Hartung and Jon Dobson split the pitching responsibilities. Hartung threw the first three innings as he allowed two hits without a run. He needed 40 pitches in those three innings on the 12 batters he faced. Hartung struck out four and walked one.
Dobson faced 11 Clayton Ridge hitters and allowed the lone run (earned) while walking three and striking out two. Dobson used 39 pitches; 22 were strikes.
The Rebels found themselves down early in their game against North Linn. Northeast got on the board when Parson hit in Wall in the third inning on an error from the second baseman. Prior to that, the Rebels had just one baserunner when Ketzalli Dondiego singled in the second inning.
Northeast scored another run in the fourth by a Nick Bailey RBI single that scored Dondiego. The Rebels scored two more runs in the fifth inning thanks to three North Linn errors.
Dondiego hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to seal the Saturday sweep for Northeast.
