Unity rallies, tops Rivermont

BETTENDORF — Fulton Unity Christian battled back after dropping the first two games and defeated Rivermont Collegiate 19-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-12, 15-9 in high school volleyball Thursday night.

The Knights took advantage of playing in Iowa, where matches are best-of-five instead of the best-of-three format used in Illinois.

“We beat them in the fifth game with a kill by freshman Jessi VanderEide,” Unity coach Jana Behr said. “The seniors (JoLynn Frederick and Jaime Kammerer) led the team well, both with eight ace serves.

“All the girls played well. I am so proud of them.”

Frederick, Kammerer and VanderEide recorded four kills apiece.
