River Queens go 1-1-1

---- — WEST LIBERTY — Clinton went 1-1-1 on Saturday at the West Liberty Invitational girls soccer tournament.

The River Queens (4-8-1) beat the host school 5-1, tied Mid-Prairie of Wellman 0-0 and then lost 1-0 to Mid-Prairie.

The lone goal against Mid-Prairie came when the Golden Hawks’ Kattie Redlinger scored on a penalty kick for her 11th goal of the season.

That was the only goal scored on the day against Clinton’s Hannah Dehner, who made 29 saves in the two matches against Mid-Praire and one in 21 minutes in the net against West Liberty.

Clinton took 16 shots in the scoreless draw against Mid-Prairie, but it got just six in the loss.

Dehner and Lauren Pittman each scored a pair of goals against West Liberty, while Sydney Larkey had one. Dehner had an assist.

Sabers prevail

DAVENPORT — Alby Saliu had the shutout and Pablo Garcia and Christian Hansen scored goals Saturday to lead Central DeWitt to a 2-0 victory against Davenport Assumption in boys soccer.

Nicholas Costello assisted on Hansen’s goal, while Hansen assisted on Garcia’s score.

Saliu made six saves in goal for Central DeWitt, which improved to 10-5.
