PRESTON — Preston scored the first 12 points Friday night and led 41-7 in the third quarter on its way to a 60-20 Big East Conference girls basketball win over Calamus-Wheatland.
Cassie Aldis scored 19 of her game-high 24 points in the first half for the Trojans (7-2, 5-2 conference). Brooke Krogman also reached double figures for Preston with 12 points. Calamus-Wheatland (0-9, 0-7) was led by McKenna Luepker’s 10 points, all in the second half.
Faith tops Unity
Unity Christian was outscored 12-1 in the second quarter to face a 12-point halftime deficit Friday as Faith grabbed a 49-29 victory.
Vanessa Frederick led Unity with 11 points and 10 rebounds. JoLynn Frederick also grabbed 10 rebounds and Erin Wessels chipped in eight points.
INDEPENDENCE — Independence outscored Maquoketa 21-4 over the final nine minutes of the first half and won 45-27 on Friday night.
Aubree Taylor scored nine points to lead the Cardinals, who trailed 29-11 at halftime and faced a 24-point deficit in the third quarter.
