Monticello sweeps Camanche

MONTICELLO — After losing by two on Dec. 10 to Monticello, Camanche fell into the trap of the Panthers, this time losing 56-42.

The Indians did have the early lead, scoring the first two baskets of the game, but once Monticello took the lead midway through the first quarter, it was all theirs. Free throws certainly played a role.

Monticello went 20-for-29 from the free-throw line; Camanche went 9-for-13.

The largest lead for Monticello was 16 twice — with 3:00 remaining in the third quarter, then in the final minute of the game before the Indians scored five late points.

Two players scored nine points for Camanche: Will Seeser and Dylan Busse.

The Comets did try to muster up some steam in the next eight minutes by scoring 20 points, but the closest they got after the 23-4 rout was midway through the third quarter while trailing 48-30.

Chase Putman was the lone Comet to soar in double-figure scoring with 10 points.
