CLINTON – Tyler Pike has been named to the 2013 Midwest League Post-Season All-Star Team, which honors the best player at each position across the league. Pike was selected as the top left-handed starter.
Pike, 19, thrived in his first year of full-season pro ball in the LumberKings’ rotation. The left-hander has made 22 starts, posting a 7-4 record with a 2.37 ERA. Among qualifying pitchers, Pike’s ERA is second in the league, behind only Bowling Green’s Dylan Floro (1.81).
Pike limited opponents to a .194 batting average, best in the league among starters. He has struck out 90 batters and allowed 73 hits allowed in 110 1/3 innings.
Pike was also one of four LumberKings chosen for the All-Star Game in June.
The Seattle Mariners drafted Pike with a third-round supplemental (126th overall) selection in the 2012 June draft out of Winter Haven (Fla.) High School.
